Rose Duligall: Examples of Work
Squirrel365 Learn:
My role at Squirrel was to provide content for the Learn section of the Squirrel365 website. This was to allow new customers to get up to speed on using the application as quickly as possible.
Use of videos, step-by-step tutorials, component descriptions and use cases.
Built with Wordpress, Adobe Premiere, Squirrel365.
Tutorial videos:
Squirrel365 has three core concepts that, once understood, will enable any user to build an application within the Squirrel environment using just these core concepts and data in a spreadsheet. My task was to produce videos that would explain each of these core concepts to customers and enable them to embark on their journey to Squirrel mastery.
I began by writing a script/story for each 'Getting Started' video, then captured screen recordings and voiceover audio prior to producing the full tutorial video in Adobe Premiere.

Step-by-Step builds:
The purpose of the Step-by-Step builds was to fully describe the process of building an application in Squirrel and give the customer all the information that they needed to build these applications for themselves. This approach meant that I was able to introduce 'good practice' principles within the instructions and demonstrate functionality to inspire the user.
I began by designing and developing the application in Squirrel, then wrote step-by-step instructions to build it, using screen grabs of the Squirrel UI to provide clarity. The builds were separated into 3 sections:
- Section 1: Add the components to the canvas
- Section 2: Add data and logic to the spreadsheet
- Section 3: Connect the components to the data
I also gave the user the option to skip Section 1 and provided a starter file with all of the components already added to the canvas.

Component Descriptions:
My task was to describe the component, its purpose and all of its properties to the user.
I incorporated written descriptions, screen grabs of the Squirrel UI and animated GIFs to achieve this.

UNHCR Fleet Management Project:
The UNHCR were rolling out a brand new fleet management project across the organisation. This would enable them to better manage their personnel and fleet of vehicles more effectively at sites throughout the world.
My role was to take information from the fleet management handbook, together with SME input, and create innovative, audience appropriate, eLearning modules that would educate and inspire all UNHCR fleet management stakeholders, from drivers to senior management.
The content has since been translated into a number of languages and has also been rebadged for use by other aid organisations.
Use of graphics, audio and text together with scenario based learning and gamification.
Built with Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Photoshop.
Gamification:
The importance of employing good drivers within the UNHCR fleet was imperative. As the backbone of the operation, reminding drivers of their value and encouraging them to develop and maintain their driving skills and attitude was the main objective of the 'Being a good driver' module.
Gamification was added throughout this module, the intention was to add a challenge between the student taking the module and the fictional character 'Robert', a driver who hadn't taken the module. Questions were asked at the end of each topic, the gamification aspect was a road with two cars, the more questions answered correctly, the further along the road the student and Robert moved.
Context sensitive feedback was given following each question answered by the student and Robert. This provided reinforcement of teaching points to further embed the important aspects of each topic.

Scenarios:
Scenarios are a fantastic way to embed information and attach that information to realistic situations. This can often reduce the cognitive load of the student, providing a framework for the information to sit upon.
I developed scenarios for the 'Driver Management' module that took the form of an interview, a conversation between multiple personnel and a driver's meeting.

Carphone Warehouse Team Trainer Aid:
The remit for this project was to produce a linear, text-based training prompt for in-store managers to use during staff training sessions. A number of modules were required, and designed to comply with a style guide provided by the client. It was necessary for the content to be responsive in order to be displayed on phones, tablets and laptops/monitors.
My role was to take the written source material, to source or create graphics that were consistent with the style of existing material and produce the modules in Adobe Captivate.
Linear, text-based training prompt.
Built with Adobe Captivate.
